We have developed Kids Stats to monitor how well kids in New South Wales are doing in key areas of their lives. Each year Kids Stats is updated to provide the most current data available. Kids Stats presents information in two categories: Aspects and Age Groups. Aspects presents the information under key areas of children's lives; Age Groups presents the information within specified age groups.

In the key areas of wellbeing  Australia does not systematically collect statistics and it rates poorly against other OECD countries in collecting data on children’s lives. Nor does it do well in consistently seeking information from children and young people themselves. (Source: UNICEF Innocenti Research Centre: Report Card 7). There are many gaps which need to be filled for us to successfully monitor the well-being of our children, Kids Stats is a beginning.

We welcome your feedback. If you have any comments, please email the NSW Commission for Children and Young People on kids@kids.nsw.gov.au.
